UPDATE AS OF 6/03/09: Blaze received his first Grand pass in South Dakota at the Spring 2009 Grand. We are very proud to say that our baby boy was never handled on a mark and was perfect through all series. He was one of sixty dogs that passed out of three hundred! Ronnie and Blaze make a great team! Blaze is now at home with us in Chicago getting pampered. Blaze had two 2 foot bones waiting on him when he got here. He now sleeps in the bed, gets fed chicken nuggets, biscuits, and his favorite (peanut butter and jelly sandwich)! OLD NEWS: Blaze received his Master Hunter Title this weekend at the age of 2! This has qualified our baby boy for the National Master's in Oct/Nov! We are so proud of him. We would like to give a special thanks to Ronnie for all the hard work that he has done with Blaze.
As his name suggests, HRCH Rouxs Blazin Chocolate Thunder MH is the picturesque beauty radiating from 80 lbs of pure muscle and brawn. At only 2 years of age, Blaze is strikingly competitive both mentally and physically. Maintaining complete temperance at the line, this enthusiastic hunter awaits his retrieve both aware and alert. Launching from his powerful hind quarters, Blaze exhibits the perfect combination of speed, agility, and perseverance it takes to satisfy this dog's innate determination in pursuit of every retrieve. Besides carrying an awe-inspiring field presence and style, Blaze carries decisiveness and prudence which contributes to this overachieving dream dog.
Following in his father's footsteps, Blaze is working toward becoming a fourth generation grand hunting retriever champion. Coming from an exemplary lineage with sire, GRHRCH UH Dakota's Cajun Roux, and dam, HRCH UH Pachanga Daphne Chocolate Thunder, Blaze is destined for fame. His sire holds many outstanding historical records: At only three years old, Roux received his Grand Hunting Retriever Championship title; a Master Hunter title; third place winner and bronze medal from Mack's Super Retriever Series; and over 500 UKC points. Roux was the youngest dog to pass the Spring 2004 Grand Hunt in Bryan/ College Station, Texas; the youngest to receive a GRHRCH title in the fall, 2004 Grand Hunt test in Bowie, Texas; and still, to this day, remains the only chocolate and the youngest dog to ever qualify for the Super Retriever Series Crown Championship- proudly placing 10th. Sadly, on October 17, 2007, UH GRHRCH Dakota's Cajun Roux retrieved his spot with god and walked up the tear-made steps to heaven, leaving behind a legacy and near perfect record.
Striving hard to live up to such an ideal hunter and companion as his father, Blaze has accomplished:
"Blaze is one of the best chocolates I have ever seen and I have trained for 11 years. He is an excellent, pin point marker; runs hard on blinds, very trainable, and has an extreme desire for the sport. Because of his great amount of talent, I find myself developing a new found appreciation for chocolate Labradors. Blaze is a deadly combination of beauty and brains, with a personality to boot."
Blaze is owned by John Grantham and currently trained by Ronnie Lee of Duck Roost Kennels. Ronnie Lee is a brilliant handler who builds upon the foundation of a positive working relationship between dog and trainer. It is nice to see that Blaze has a home away from home. Ronnie establishes with all of his client's dogs, a relationship that is built on trust and communication. Through his years he has trained several Grand Champion dogs.
